Energy and CO2

Tailor-made solutions

Dutch horticulture aims to realize a fully sustainable and economically viable energy system that is virtually free of CO2 emissions, by 2050. To achieve this goal, the sector is carrying out much research into topics such as greenhouse climate control, how to reduce the winter consumption peak, CO2 capture and storage techniques, retaining CO2, development of new green energy sources, heat and cold storage and its optimisation, geothermal energy, and integral sustainability. The sector is already using geothermal energy and reusing industrial CO2 emissions.
